May

Cape May Marlin and Tuna Club Tournaments.

May 15 & 16 - Drum Tournament

Memorial Day Weekend - Stripers, Fish Sat & Sun

We'll fish both of these tournaments again this year as they are always a good time. The club has a cookout for the event so that's nice too. Entry fee is typically $100 + $200 in calcutta's.

June

June 19: Jim's Shark Tournament & Cape May Marlin and Tuna Club Tournament. We’ll leave the dock around 4:30am and return by 6 pm, participating in both Jim’s annual shark tournament and the Cape May Marlin and Tuna Club tournament. There will be a cookout in Jim’s parking lot following the event.

June 25: Jr. Angler - 16 & Under

This is in-shore or off-shore. If we get some adventurous kids together we'll go out an chase Tuna and Mahi this day. Costs will depend on whether we fish in-shore or off. Tournament fee is only $50 and the kids have a great time.

July

July 2: Canyon Kick-Off

The start of the off-shore tournaments. Chasing the first white marlin and or blue marlin release of the year, along with Yellow Fin Tuna. Weather permitting we'll be fishing the Canyons.

July 10: Shockly Off-Shore Tournament.

This tournament is now timed with South Jersey's Ocean Viking tournament. It's a party on the water with some very competitive off-shore fishing.

July 15, 16, 17 (Open) Mid Atlantic Tuna Tournament

Fish 2 out of 3 days. This is a big event and one that I'd like to fish this year if anyone's up for it. There are many different strategies for this event, we'll be targeting yellowfin in the Canyon. Tournament fees will be about $3000 which will put us in some of the calcuttas, and total expenses for the two days of fishing will be another 1400 bringing the total cost to around $4,400 or about $1000 a person if we have 4 - 5. Think about it, drag some friends along, and let's do it.

August

Aug 2 - 6: White Marlin Open, over $2.5 Million in prize money

Fish any 3 days this week. We'll run out of Cape May if we fish this. This is a big event with big payouts...in the 7 figure range. If we find a crew that wants to do it, I am game. I'm not certain on costs for this one because of the calcutta's a general estimate is $8,000 or about $2,000 a person.

Aug 13: Ladies Day.

In 2007 our ladies dominated this highly attended tournament bringing in a double header of longfin tuna that swept the off-shore division. In 2008 we missed first place tuna by 3 ounces.

September

Sept 4-5 : Labor Day Overnighter

Weather permitting we'll fish the canyons from Noon on Saturday to Noon on Sunday targeting tuna, marlin, mahi and swordfish. If you've never spent the night 80 miles off the coast, it's a great experience.

Sept 17, 18: Challenge Cup

This is a great event held in Ocean City every year. Cape May will compete this year to prevent the cup from retiring to the Ocean City club. If you've been you know to bring a spare liver. If you haven't, it's something you need to do.

November

Nov 20: Fall Striper

Last event of the year. The stripers are usually biting for this one.
